Why squeezing
actually helps.
This isn't folklore. Tactile stimulation — the simple act of gripping and releasing something with resistance — has a measurable effect on the body's stress response, independent of any one product.
In a peer-reviewed study, tactile stimulation moved participants' anxiety scores from a high range into a low one.
Active gripping of soft, textured materials has been linked to a lower release of cortisol, the body's primary stress hormone.
Tactile input has been shown to increase heart rate variability — a marker of the body's "rest and recover" response taking over.
A classroom study found students given a squeezable object showed roughly a 20% improvement in attention and task completion.
Squeezing and releasing engages the hand and forearm muscles directly, easing the physical tension that builds up during stress.
These findings come from published research on tactile stimulation broadly — not a clinical trial of The Squeeze Co. specifically. But they're the reason we designed something meant to be held, not just looked at.
Dyed through, not painted on.
Colour goes in at the batch stage, mixed directly into the foam before it's ever moulded — not sprayed or printed on afterward. What you're holding in three years is the same tone you unboxed, because there's no surface layer to chip, scratch, or fade with wear.
The foam itself is a slow-rise, closed-cell polyurethane, chosen specifically for how it rebounds: not instantly, like a stress ball snapping back, but a slow, satisfying return that gives the squeeze somewhere to go. Every seam is hand-trimmed rather than left with mould flash, which is a small detail most manufacturers skip — we don't.
Every batch checked before it's approved.
Ink and Bone go through the same density and rebound testing every time a new batch is mixed — so the piece you get from Drop 001 feels identical to the one someone else ordered a week earlier. Consistency isn't glamorous, but it's the difference between a considered product and a lucky one.
No. 03 is still being decided.
We don't announce a new piece until we're certain it's worth making. Right now we're deep in sampling — testing foam densities, timing rebound speed, and deciding whether the next shape actually earns a place next to the first two, rather than just filling out a catalogue.
We're also being careful not to announce No. 03 before it's ready. What that timing actually looks like — and where we're at on delivery more broadly — is covered further down.
We're not shipping packaging just to have something to ship.
The first squeeze should feel like an event, so we're taking the time to get the box itself right — testing weights, closures, and how it actually feels to open, rather than defaulting to whatever's fastest to produce. What ships with Drop 001 is already considered. What we're working toward for Drop 002 is a box people want to film opening, without us having to ask them to.
Getting this to you, faster.
Right now, orders ship from our EU warehouse partners and typically arrive within a handful of business days, depending on where you are in the Nordics. We're not fully satisfied with "depending" as an answer.
We're actively working supplier by supplier to bring that window down — prioritising manufacturers with confirmed EU stock over ones that are faster to list but slower to actually arrive. As Drop 001 grows, we're also looking at holding a small amount of inventory ourselves for our most-ordered pieces, specifically so delivery keeps getting faster as we scale, not slower.
"We'd rather do a few things very well than many things fast."
Every manufacturer, chosen by hand.
We don't bulk-list from a catalogue and hope for the best. Every manufacturer we work with is vetted directly — calls, sample requests, real questions about how their workers are treated, not just how fast they can ship. If a factory can't tell us where their materials actually come from, we move on. It takes longer to launch this way. We're fine with that.
Small runs, on purpose.
Drop 001 was capped at 500 pieces before a single one was made — not as a marketing trick, but because we don't want to produce more than we're confident will actually be held onto, not tossed in a drawer once the trend moves on. When a drop sells out, it's gone. The next one will look different, on purpose, not just recoloured.
EU warehouses, shorter distances.
Sourcing and warehousing closer to where you actually live isn't just about speed, though it does help there too. It's fewer miles for something that's meant to help you slow down, not add another fast, disposable box to the pile. We chose EU warehouses specifically so a squeeze toy doesn't need to cross an ocean to reach you.
Tested before it's approved, not after.
Every material we use is checked against EU toy safety standards before it's cleared for a drop — not just because regulation requires it, but because something meant to be squeezed and held constantly should never be a question mark. If a supplier can't produce that documentation, they don't make the list, no matter how good the sample feels in hand.
This is slow, considered, and built to outlast the trend it started in.
If you want to buy the original, high-quality squishies, then you're at the right place.
